So, today I went to shucks and got Valvoline's pyroil power steering fluid and put it in my audi, and the breaks and steering seem to be working better than ever, complaired to "audi brand" power steering fluid for my year. Now my question is, does anyone know why it sounds like the barrings in my power steering pump and maybe something else sound like a belt squeeking?

17/09: Polls!!

Category: General
Posted by: ryan
Every week starting next week I will start posting Polls. You will be able to vote for a few different things to have done to the car. I will put monitary value on all your votes. The more the item costs, the more each vote will be worth. At the end of the polling week, the item(s) with the most votes will win, and I will pay that amount for the new part.

For example, if I put up a poll for a cosmetic part, and new paint wins the poll. If I say I'm going to put in $.40 for every vote and 1000 people vote, then I'll only spend $400 to have the car painted.

Feel free to comment~

Tomorrow I'm going to head out and take some pictures of the car: All the damage, Anything broken, and Everything that needs to be repaired. Then I will start formulating my plan for fixing everything at close to FREE.

Check back to see what happens!

16/09: The Car

So, I've been looking for a decent throw-away car I can buy cheap, fix up, and sell for a proffit. I got a good deal from a friend of a friend for a 1991 audi 100 Quattro. For $1000, I got a car with electric everything, power everything, heated everything... this is a diamond in the rough, I plan to polish it out.

When I got the car it needed a fuel pump, fuel filter, oil change, and new brakes. I was able to get my hands on a digital version of the service manual (not to be confused with the owners manual) for about $20. After looking it through, I realized I can save a bundle if I did all the repairs myself. I went online and tracked down a warehouse based parts company and was able to get the fuel pump and filter, windshield wipers(why not, it's alaska), and the oil filter for under $200. I latter found brake pads for all four wheels for less than $80.

So far we're looking at $1000 for this late luxuary car and less than $300 for the parts to fix it. As I start fixing this car, I'm going to plan my progress and how I did everything. Hopefull I can help someone looking for a quick fix to their 90-92 audi 100 quattro, without having to trackdown a service manual.

Parts should start ariving on thursday or friday (9/17 9/18). Check back for updates.
